Hotel Cafe Tour

I had a fun night tonight with Jamie at the Hotel Cafe Tour. I really like the concept of this tour--a bunch of singer/songwriters tour together and play some of their own stuff, all play together, play their own stuff, mix and repeat. It really is just a great night for great music. Tonight's line-up was Joshua Radin, Cary Brothers, Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles (pictured here), and a last minute additon of Birmingham native (and a favorite of mine) Elliott Morris.

Drive By Parade

Cammie and I went to lunch today after one of my deliveries. I picked her up and as we were driving to lunch, coming the other direction was one of the hooptiest St. Paddy's Day parades I have ever seen! Maybe even the hooptiest parade in general I have ever seen (Jamie, our 4th of July parades we hijacked growing up do not count). I guess I am spoiled by the Jackson parade with the Sweet Potato Queens. We did score a couple of necklaces through my window from some pretty good shots. I've never seen a parade before where they let traffic drive on the other side of the street

Penny Test

So I think I need some new tires! One Sams, One Costco, One Goodyear, and 2 Walmarts later, I accomplished that goal tonight. It was actually quite empowering to look at the goodyear guy who was trying to sell me $175 tires and say "Buddy, that is a 1999 out there with 160,000 plus miles on it, it is not going to last another 75,000 miles. No thank you."

New Growth

These are the first leaves on my Clematis Vines beside my front door. I wish I had taken a picture of it before it started to bloom again because right before Spring I always think I have killed it the previous season! But then it starts to grow again and it gives me hope. I've been thinking a lot about this plant lately and love the visual picture it gives me each year of what God has done in my life--He has brought life to the deadness in me. I can't wait to share more pictures of this beautiful plant as it continues to blossom throughout the Spring.

Casserole City

Well, we hope to populate this freezer with casseroles soon at Ashley Mac's. This is the newest piece of equipment in the store. It is going to be up front where the customers can come and pick up/out their casseroles. I think this will make life much easier when customers call and/or come into the store and should help keep our frozen casseroles in front of our customers every time they come in = lots and lots of sales!

Andy is begining to learn how to make some of our most popular items in the kitchen. Today's lesson was poppyseed chicken casserole and Andy didn't want to get any on him so the apron went on for the first time and probably the last time!

Blue Light Special

There was quite a bit of excitement in Shades Mountain Plaza (where Ashley Mac's is located) tonight as I was getting ready to close up the shop. Police were everywhere and if you wanted a cop car, one was left running with the door wide open and no police officer in sight for about 15 minutes! Come to find out, someone robbed the pharmacy across the street in the attempt to get some drugs. The lengths some people will go absolutely amaze me! This all happened around 6:00 PM!

I love driving a SUV but WOW quite a bit of my moolah goes into filling this thing up! Thankfully I do get reimbursed for mileage when I make deliveries for work. With as much driving as I have to do for work, I am becoming quite versed in the cheepest gas stations!
